This was such a fun and different build we got to create. Our client sells work out clothes and needed a place to have her customers shop and try on clothes. We built a warbdrobe, dressing room with full size back lit mirror, Seating area and register cabinet.

5/6 Salkantay Trek Day 5 Llactapata to Machu Picc 5/6 Salkantay Trek Day 5 Llactapata to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) Our last day has arrived! Distance – 11 miles (18km) Elevation Loss: -3500ft (760m) Elevation Gain: +1000ft (300m) Starting Elevation: 9200 ft (2680m) Ending Elevation: 6700ft (2050m) We had planned to wake up to the sunrise over the valley looking at Machu Picchu, but the valley was covered in clouds and we couldn’t see anything but white. Truly sleeping in the clouds this morning. We had a hearty breakfast of pancakes, avocado toast, and fresh fruit, again all included in the price of the room. It really has been great not to worry about cooking or even packing and carrying all our food these past 5 days. Every meal has been so delicious. This was a nice luxury of this trek for me. No cooking or cleaning for 5 days. We hit the trail around 8am and headed to the town of Machu Picchu! The first part of the trail you descend off the mountain down 3,400ft in 3.7 miles to Hidroeléctrica. It takes around 2.5hrs. From Hidroeléctrica to Machu Picchu Pueblo is another 7.3 miles. This is the flat part of the hike. You’re hiking in the jungle cloud forest, along a rocky trail next to the train tracks. Over 7 miles you do ascend about 1000ft. This is the same trail used by the American professor Hiram Bingham who rediscovered Machu Picchu after centuries of it being lost to the outside world! There are sand flies at all stops along the Salkantay Trail, especially once you hit Lucmabamba.   Wear long light clothing and bug spray.  These buggers left big bites, that were extremely itchy and lasted weeks! As we got closer and closer to Machu Picchu Pueblo a feeling of happiness and accomplishment invaded us! We did it! We actually did it! 4/6 Salkantay Trek Day 4 Lucmabamba to Llactapata 4/6 Salkantay Trek Day 4 Lucmabamba to Llactapata This was a chill day for us with only 3.7 miles. We did gain 2600ft in elevation in that time, but compared to the last days this wasn’t too bad. We only hiked 4 hours this day. Our legs were very happy we let them rest a bit. Distance: 3.7miles (6km) Elevation Gain: +2600ft (800m) Starting Elevation: 6600ft (2000m) Ending Elevation: 9200ft (2800m) This is where we enter the famous and highly-acclaimed Inca trail! Here we passed an Inca site called Llactapata. We not only saw ruins, but across the valley sat Machu Picchu from this spot with Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain looming over. This was one reason we decided to cut this day short and spend the night here. The Llactapata Lodge is a stunning property that looks at the backside to Machu Picchu. We originally planned to stay in Santa Teresa, but we pivoted the day before. This lodge is the only lodge on this detour over the mountain. On Booking.com Llactapata Lodge is $250/ night(room only)! We found their WhatsApp and messaged them the day before and got it for $90(4pple) including dinner and breakfast! AMAZING score! We skipped Santa Teresa Hot springs because others told us they were packed with people and mosquitos. After arriving at Llactapata and looking at Machu Picchu across the valley, we knew we made the right choice. 🏨 Hostel: Llactapata Lodge 📲 WhatsApp: +51 952 712 467 💰 Price: 90sol/pp ($22.50/pp) (Dinner + Breakfast + Hot Shower + WIFI + View of Machu Picchu) This is where you can choose to make the trail 4 or 5 days. 3/6 Salkantay Trek Day 3 Day 3 you begin your hik 3/6 Salkantay Trek Day 3 Day 3 you begin your hike in the cloud forest where you encounter sketchy trails, rivers, waterfalls, wild orchids, and plantations of coffee, banana, and avocado. Distance – 11.2 miles (18km) Starting Elevation – 9022 ft (2750m) Campsite Elevation – 7874ft (2400m) Peru loves drop offs so you can test your fear of heights on this day. Just like the death roads we have been driving we got to experience it by foot here. The trail is skinny and crumbling with drop off to the river in some places that is just enough of fear to keep your feet going. Along the 11 miles you will pass many small villages. There is no need to fear that you forgot something on this trek. As you walk by locals growing passion fruit and granadilla you can buy them freshly picked along with fresh juices, candy, chips, tampons, you name it and they have little tiendas with all your needs. As we continue to descend in elevation the temperature is steadily warming up each day. We end our day all hot and sweaty at Lia B&B Hostel. Lia & Freddie’s Avocado, Banana and Coffee Plantation is a dream!   This place was so wonderful. The property is big and beautiful and they’re the sweetest people. For 60 Soles it includes a coffee tour where you pick and roast your own beans! We did a tour in Colombia but this one was different and so much fun. The highlight was having dinner and breakfast with all the backpackers every day. It was a really fun experience sitting around the table and passing food and conversation with fellow trekkers. We all loved meeting new friends and hearing their traveling stories. Salkantay comes from the Inca word Salqa, which me Salkantay comes from the Inca word Salqa, which means “wild, uncivilized, savage, or invincible”. 

2/6 Salkantay Trek Day 2 The second day of Salkantay is the hardest. 14 miles (22km) Elevation gain +2400ft then after you summit (at a whopping 15,100ft) you lose 6000ft over the next 9.5 miles (7km). We awoke the next morning at 5am for breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bread, and watered down oatmeal which we all joked was made from 1 oat. Luckily our new friends @goinggnomadic heard to bring extra oats and they happily shared with all of us. Such a great tip, we were all thankful they listened. The highest point on the Salkantay Trek is the Salkantay Pass which peaks at 15,100 feet. The distance is a 4.5 miles (7km) of difficult ascent in 3 hours between the rocky valley base and the magnificent Salkantay Mountain. Our months of training in these high elevations really paid off. Our breathing was normal and all our legs were feeling strong. I have to say we have such strong kids! It was fun to watch the tour groups pass us on horses and say “oh Ninos, Mira ninos!” They couldn’t believe our kids were doing it by foot and looking so strong. Proud parent moment. 💪🏼❤️ If you think the elevation and peaking at Salkantay Pass is the hardest, just wait for the 6000ft descent down a rocky, trail for what feels like an eternity.  Luckily it was a beautiful eternity. After you pass miles of glacier peaks and boulder fields you then begin to descend into the cloud forest. During this part of the trek, you will notice a dramatic change in landscape as we move from Andes to Amazon. At this point our legs our dying and blisters are forming. We arrived at our hostel and it’s never looked so good. They provided us with hot showers and a nice warm dinner. Which we all limped to. As we laid in bed we fell asleep talking about the hard but amazing day we had, with a small amount of fear for what the next 3 days hold. 🏨 Hostel: Samana Wasi Hostel (Elevation 9022ft (2750m) 📲 WhatsApp: +51 958 163 200 💰 Price: 50sol/pp ($12.50usd) (Dinner + Breakfast + Hot Shower + WIFI) We booked 2 days before, and were the only people here.
1/6 Hello Salkantay! 46 miles of snow capped mount 1/6 Hello Salkantay! 46 miles of snow capped mountains, alpine lakes, mountain villages, cascading waterfalls and lush subtropical rainforest that end at Machu Picchu. You know all those mountain lakes we’ve been hiking to in the Cordillera Blanca? They have been preparing us for this trek. 46 miles - 4 days Starting elevation of 12,700 feet Peak elevation of 15,100 feet.  Elevation Gain: +10,750 feet Elevation Loss: -14,000 feet The hardest part was trying to figure out how to do this on our own. @_poudredescampette_ and @kristabshaw were both a huge help and great resources that let us know it is possible and easier than you can imagine. Thank you for your help friends! ❤️🙏🏼 We opted to not carry all our camping gear and stay in hostels along the way. Towns where we stayed | Soraypampa – Chawallay – Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Aguas Calientes To find accommodations, just pull these towns up on google maps and zoom in, click on each hostel’s info and message them on WhatsApp. I only booked ours 2 days in advance and some the day before while we were on the trail. The price typically includes breakfast and dinner as well and some will even pack lunches. 💰4 day Salkantay Trek Cost: $458.00 for 4 people. (Not including Machu Picchu) Tour groups charge around $300-600/pp! Huge savings doing it yourself! ——— Salkantay Trek Day 1 The start of the trek begins in the town of Soraypampa which is a 4 hour taxi ride from Cusco. We booked our first night with Soraypampa Hostel and they coordinated our taxi for us to pick us up at 7am from our campground in Cusco for 70sol/pp ($17) You can do the cheap way and catch the collectivo from town at 4am for only 20S/adult ($5) and 10/S/kids. We had planned to hike to Lake Humantay this day, but once we arrived in Soraypampa it was raining so we grabbed lunch and chilled at the hostel. If you have good weather don’t miss this beautiful side hike. We all went to sleep anticipating what the next day would bring and how much we were going to hurt by this time tomorrow. 🤣 🏨 Hostel: Soraypampa Hostel 📲 WhatsApp: +51 913 298 630 💰 Price: 70 Sol/pp ($17.50usd) (Dinner + Breakfast + Packed Lunch +WIFI)
We made it to the Nazca Lines - a night we’ll ne We made it to the Nazca Lines - a night we’ll never forget. The Nazca Lines are a collection of geoglyphs, or ENORMOUS drawings, that were created by the Nazca people between 200 BC and 500 AD. These designs can range from 50 to 1,200 feet long, which is as large as the Empire State Building! The straight lines in the Nazca Lines are up to 30 miles long! With them being so long they’re best seen from the air, but can also be seen from the surrounding foothills and other high places. We climbed a few viewing towers but really wanted to see the condor and spider which were farther away and only available to be seen by plane. Some of our Overlanding friends told us you can park by The Cat and fly your drone there by keeping it really low. This drone flight caused a lot of stress for us. You have to fly your drone 2 miles to see the lines and by time we got to the area our battery started beeping “Low battery, Return Home”. We were soo close to the spider that Scott took the chance to ignore the warning and go just a little farther. Bad decision! Our drone didn’t make it back to us by 600 feet! We could see the hill we were standing on from the drones camera. It was sooo close. Now these are sacred lines of the Nazca people and we couldn’t just go out and grab it. So we asked the security guard to help, and sure enough they have special shoes to walk out on the lines. Lillian was able to spot the drone with the binoculars and when night fall came they retrieved it for us. A night we’ll never forget. Because it was night we ended up sleeping at the north end of the valley right under the cat! 🛸Now theory says that the lines were used as landing sites for UFOs, and that the Nazca lines site reflected visits by astronauts from other worlds, who became the creators of ancient civilizations. This theory kept us looking up at the stars and giving us sci-fi dreams of what might possibly land next to us in the middle of the night.👽 This isn’t the only theory. Some say they are ceremonial roads or places of worship. Maybe the lines were offerings to their gods, who would have been able to see them from the heavens. ❓What do you think?

We booked our first night with Soraypampa Hostel and they coordinated our taxi for us to pick us up at 7am from our campground in Cusco for 70sol/pp ($17) You can do the cheap way and catch the collectivo from town at 4am for only 20S/adult ($5) and 10/S/kids. We had planned to hike to Lake Humantay this day, but once we arrived in Soraypampa it was raining so we grabbed lunch and chilled at the hostel. If you have good weather don’t miss this beautiful side hike. We made it to the Nazca Lines - a night we’ll ne We made it to the Nazca Lines - a night we’ll never forget. The Nazca Lines are a collection of geoglyphs, or ENORMOUS drawings, that were created by the Nazca people between 200 BC and 500 AD. These designs can range from 50 to 1,200 feet long, which is as large as the Empire State Building! The straight lines in the Nazca Lines are up to 30 miles long! With them being so long they’re best seen from the air, but can also be seen from the surrounding foothills and other high places. We climbed a few viewing towers but really wanted to see the condor and spider which were farther away and only available to be seen by plane. Some of our Overlanding friends told us you can park by The Cat and fly your drone there by keeping it really low. This drone flight caused a lot of stress for us. You have to fly your drone 2 miles to see the lines and by time we got to the area our battery started beeping “Low battery, Return Home”. We were soo close to the spider that Scott took the chance to ignore the warning and go just a little farther. Bad decision! Our drone didn’t make it back to us by 600 feet! We could see the hill we were standing on from the drones camera. It was sooo close. Now these are sacred lines of the Nazca people and we couldn’t just go out and grab it. So we asked the security guard to help, and sure enough they have special shoes to walk out on the lines. Lillian was able to spot the drone with the binoculars and when night fall came they retrieved it for us. A night we’ll never forget. Because it was night we ended up sleeping at the north end of the valley right under the cat! 🛸Now theory says that the lines were used as landing sites for UFOs, and that the Nazca lines site reflected visits by astronauts from other worlds, who became the creators of ancient civilizations. This theory kept us looking up at the stars and giving us sci-fi dreams of what might possibly land next to us in the middle of the night.👽 This isn’t the only theory. Some say they are ceremonial roads or places of worship. Maybe the lines were offerings to their gods, who would have been able to see them from the heavens. ❓What do you think?
